Alfonso “Fonzie” Mayfield and wife Kathryn believe in celebrating every win in the game of life. So, in 2018, the couple created Allure Cigars to celebrate both a culture and a lifestyle of unapologetic success. With the global cigar market expected to reach $21 billion by 2025 (as reported by Grand View Research
Inc.), Mayfield’s goal is to position Allure Cigars as a household name in the premium product segment of this industry. However, creating an elevated, unique, and enjoyable cigar smoking experience is far from where Fonzie began.
Originally from Milwaukee’s inner city, he grew up a quiet kid in a large, close-knit, and loving home lead by a strong and dedicated mother. Although keeping mostly to himself, either drawing or writing, Fonzie did spend a good amount of time on his passion – basketball. That passion and hard work garnered him an athletic scholarship to Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN where he became a highly decorated student athlete.
Along with earning All-Conference recognition all four years, he was also selected All-American and All-Region three times, All-Defensive honors two times, and was named to the All-National Tournament team twice. With all of those accomplishments, it should be no surprise that Fonzie was inducted into the Bethany Lutheran College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Bethany Lutheran College; Fonzie went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University.
Along with owning and operating Allure Cigars, Alfonso is also the Founder and President of SAFEMN (Saving Adolescents From Endangerment) in Minneapolis, MN. SAFEMN is a 501c3 non-profit that provides mentorship to black males between the ages of 11 and 17 in the Twin Cities Metro. The mission of SAFEMN is to affect the lives of black youth by creating awareness, fostering mentorships, and exposing opportunities.
